CONSOLIDATION

SHOREACRES - On May 2, 2026, voters in La Porte and Shoreacres will decide whether the City of Shoreacres should be permanently consolidated into and become part of the City of La Porte. This election was triggered by voter petitions in both cities and is authorized under Texas law. If approved, Shoreacres would cease to exist as an independent city and be absorbed into La Porte, with all future governance, taxing authority, and city services controlled by La Porte. This ordinance does not guarantee tax savings, service improvements, or local representation, it simply places the consolidation question on the ballot and allows voters to decide the future of Shoreacres.
